Frank Shamrock was retired from the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) on June 26, 2010. Frank Shamrock announced his retirement at the Strikeforce: Fedor vs Werdum. On Saturday, he announced about his retirement just a while before the match started which was held at HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.
While announcing the retirement, he told to the crowd that his time has come to retire and now, starts like Gilbert Melendez and Cristiane Cyborg are the future. He added that this night be would be last walk for him to the cage as fighter.
In April 2009, he lost the game against Nick Diaz at a catch weight bout of 179 pounds. He stopped fighting after this defeat. He learned several techniques involved in catch wrestling under Ken in the Lions Den. Mr. Ken was his adoptive brother and he taught him the techniques during the early 1990’s.
Frank Shamrock was born on December 8, 1972. Shamrock has been retired as a four-time defending undefeated champion. He has also won many titles in other mixed martial arts, which includes the interim King of Pancrase title, the WEC Light Heavyweight Championship and the Strikeforce Middleweight championship.
Frank Shamrock was the first to hold the UFC Middleweight Championship. Frank Shamrock has been named “Fighter of the Decade”. He was also named as “Best Full Contact Fighter”, by Black Belt magazine (1998), and three times “Fighter of the Year” by Full Contact Fighter Magazine.
